The violence erupted after Israel reversed a decision to loosen its grip on Palestinian movement in the West Bank and Gaza Strip for the four-day Eid al-Adha holiday. Palestinian hospital officials in the West Bank city of Qalqilya said the eight-year-old died after being hit in the chest by gunfire from troops attacked by stone-throwers. They said 10 other Palestinians were wounded. Israeli military sources said soldiers in Qalqilya had fired at three Palestinians who had thrown petrol bombs at them.
