Less than two hours after the
deadline for Saddam to leave Iraq our trigger- happy
commander-in-chief ordered a decapitation strike in hopes of
catching Saddam by surprise. Bush has long itched to begin this war
of conquest and Empire. Diplomacy was never given serious
consideration by his inner circle of "Chickenhawks". The
road to Empire began with an early morning surprise attack on the
Iraqi people. Where will it lead us in the coming days, months,
years?
How and when will it end? We are quite familiar with pre-emptive
strikes.
How can we ever forget Pearl Harbor? The Japanese attack at dawn
paved the way for America's entry into WWII. That war resulted in
over 60 million dead men, women, and children before it's conclusion
and the only use of nuclear weapons on an unsuspecting population.
What about 9/11? Yes, that was a cowardly act of terrorism by a
group of religious fanatics led by Osama bin Laden and not Saddam
Hussein, although the current Administration would lead you to
believe otherwise.
North Korea is threatening its neighbors with nuclear strikes and
our trigger-happy president is in charge of the world's largest
arsenal of weapons of mass destruction. That is a terrifying reality
to ponder given the reactionary mentality of our country's current
leaders.
The so-called "war to disarm Saddam" could easily spread
throughout the region and the world. The Islamic Nations are
outraged by the arrogance and ruthlessness of this American
Administration and they will respond in the coming days ahead. The
World Majority is overwhelmingly against this war and the U.S. led
coalition of the coerced will find themselves increasingly isolated
from the World Community during the coming days of conflict. The
United Nations and World opinion mean absolutely nothing to the
Warlords of this Administration. They wear blinders on their eyes
and turn a deaf ear to the cries of outrage. They will stop at
nothing along the road to Empire, driven by their greed and lust for
power.
I fear for the lives of the thousands of innocents who will suffer
in Iraq and perhaps the entire region. The road to Armageddon may or
may not run through Baghdad, but the world today has become far more
dangerous than at any other time in recorded history. May God
protect us in the dark days ahead!
