Al-Zawahiri calls for suicide attacks against Westerners A voice said to be that of Ayman Al-Zawahiri urged Muslims to force Westerners from the "land of Islam", meaning the Arabian peninsula, by attacking them and "emulating" the September 11 suicide hijackings in the United States. "O Muslims, muster your resolve and hit the embassies of America, England, Australia and Norway, their interests, their companies and their employees ... Set the ground ablaze under their feet... Kick these criminals out of your homelands. "Learn the lesson from your 19 brethren who attacked America with their planes, in New York and Washington, wreaking on it unprecedented havoc from which it it still reeling," the voice purported to be that of Zawahiri said in reference to the September 2001 suicide hijackings against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. "The Crusaders and Jews understand only the language of killing and blood. They can only be persuaded through returning coffins, devastated interests, burning towers and collapsed economies," the voice intoned. Zawahiri, whose remarks appeared to have been made during the US-led war on Iraq, lashed out at Arab countries he said were helping the US military campaign, naming Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Yemen and Jordan. The top lieutenant to the fugitive bin Laden predicted glad tidings for Muslims - a reference to attacks on Western targets - amid warnings that fresh terror strikes were likely, specifically in the United States and Saudi Arabia. The United States, Britain, Canada and Germany have temporarily closed their embassies in Saudi Arabia in the wake of May 12 suicide bombings against expatriate residential compounds in Riyadh that killed 34 people. Australia, whose foreign minister was in Riyadh Wednesday, has not followed suit. The Riyadh bombings, which were followed by a series of similar attacks in Morocco, have been blamed on al-Qaeda.
