Huge explosions shake US base in Kirkuk as Resistance rocket blows up US ammunition depot.
05/02/04 -- Al-Jazeera satellite TV reported on Wednesday evening that an Iraqi Resistance rocket had slammed into an American ammunition depot on the base.

Reuters reported that rockets and grenades could be seen in the night sky over the Kirkuk Airport which the US invaders took over as their regional headquarters. Warning sirens wailed after the first blast that took place at about 10:00pm local time.
Chaos reigned after that for an hour and a half, according to a Reuters dispatch.
‘Adnan Hadi, who lives some 500meters from the base, said “you could see rockets taking off and falling back down everywhere within the base. The windows shattered in buildings near the base,” just from the power of those explosions that were going off inside the base, he said.
Residents nearby could hear loudspeakers inside the base telling the soldiers to remain under shelters
