Newsweek Debacle
A readers commentary
"Oh what a tangle web you weave
When first you practice to deceive"

- - Why should anyone be surprised by the strong reaction to the allegations published in Newsweek? The US and British Governments with all their military power can not escape the fact that the punishment for the liar is that he is not believed even when he speaks the truth. From fixing intelligence, to Abu Ghraib to the killing of the Italian secret service man and countless investigations we can clearly see that truth was the first casualty in the current war on terror and that by our own hands, we in the west, have duged our own grave. What we called Western Civilization is in an advance stage of decomposition and the real enemy is within.
We have sold our souls for profit and money embracing Business as our true religion and the one thing we can't outsource or find contractors to take for us is the inevitable auditing day. We may appear to be the leading economies and prosperous nations but we are morally bankrupt. The allegations of the blasphemous tossing of the pages of the Holy Koran down the toilet may well prove to be true, but the real tragedy is that we have flushed the pages of our Holy Bible down the toilet a long time ago and hypocritically claim the righteousness of our cause.
Maybe the problem lies in the fact that we often try to interpret God according to our limited understanding of His nature, essence and intents. Through our distorted view we see a God who favors our particular ethnic or religious values, a God whom we seek to uphold the righteousness of our cause, a God who will grant us victory over our enemies.
The Newsweek debacle simply underlines the fact that truth does not need crutches; if it limps it’s a lie! All of us are subjected to the same principles, especially Government officials and those on the Media who by their position and means have the power to influence many. Why are people therefore not enraged but the amount of deception to which our leaders have fallen to, when most of their words and reasons have now been found to be untrue? Simply because we resisted the truth for so long that it no longer holds power over our minds.
